What if employees and/or students are uncomfortable sharing a workspace with co-workers who have not been vaccinated?

OSU encourages employees to be vaccinated. Vaccination is considered effective in preventing individuals from acquiring symptomatic COIVID-19 infection. It has not yet been determined if vaccination prevents asymptomatic COVID-19 infection. To contribute to safety for all employees and students returning on-site, OSU will continue to require adherence to public health measures and applicable state and federal guidelines and requirements around physical distancing, face covering usage and cleaning protocols.

If employees and/or students are concerned, they should strongly consider being vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as Oregon distribution plans permit. In addition, the employee may also talk with their supervisor privately to discuss alternative workspace or schedule options. If an individual needs an accommodation related to their workspace and COVID-19 concerns, they can speak with the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access (EOA) to engage in the interactive process around an accommodation request. Accommodation requests can be submitted at the EOA website here.
