If I have already had COVID-19, do I still need to get the vaccine?

Those who have had COVID-19 are still required to be in compliance with OSU’s Vaccine program.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that those who have had COVID-19 still get the vaccine. While those who have had COVID-19 and recovered may have some protection, it is not known how long that protection will last. Further, a recent CDC study shows that unvaccinated individuals who previously had COVID-19 were twice as likely to be reinfected with COVID-19 than those who were fully vaccinated after having COVID-19.

Additionally, health authorities and experts are currently finding that those who get vaccinated after having COVID-19 have stronger and longer-lasting combined protection, and that the vaccination immune response is likely strong enough to provide some protection against additional new variants.
