Academic support offices are working across campus to make their services available to students and faculty using remote platforms (Zoom, phone, email, and more). This page provides a brief overview of resources you might reference or link in your course materials or reference when supporting students. 

Academic Success Center (ASC)

  • The Remote & Online Learning webpage contains resources designed to help students develop skills and strategies for success in remote learning. You can download and share resources or link directly to this content on your Canvas site.
  • Strategists are available via Zoom, text, email, or phone to helps students identify and locate academic resources across campus and to share ASC learning tools and strategies.
  • Academic Coaching & Supplemental Instruction (SI) will both be held through Zoom spring term. Coaching appointments can be scheduled online, and SI registration will open Week 2 of the term.
  • The ASC Staff will host workshops via Zoom. Workshops are available on a range of academic success topics, can be tailored to your class, and can be scheduled online.
  • The Campus Partners webpage includes teaching resources you can incorporate in your Canvas site, as well resources to support outreach and referrals.

OSU Libraries

  • Teaching librarians and archivists are available to do remote guest lectures, create Research Guides, and provide 1:1 and small group consultations with students. We can also help you develop research assignments that your students can successfully complete with the resources available to them remotely.
  • Teaching librarians are also making workshops available via Zoom, and will provide these workshops on demand for classes, by request.
  • The OSU Libraries' How-To guide is a collection of short lessons that introduce the basics of locating, accessing and citing information resources. These lessons are formatted so that you can easily import them into Canvas course sites. 
  • The Ask a Librarian service is available anywhere: Text, Call, Email or Chat.
  • Course reserves: Library workers will work with you to find digital versions of your course materials to put on reserve.

OSU Service Desk

The OSU Service Desk provides general computer support and also provides an intake and routing service for all OSU technology support teams. Students can contact the Service Desk by:  

The Undergrad Research and Writing Studio, Graduate Writing Center, and Online Writing Suite

  • The Undergrad Research and Writing Studio and Graduate Writing Center provide research and writing support via Slack and Zoom. Whether students are looking for feedback on an entire writing project or just have a quick question, the Slack space is open to serve their writing needs Monday – Friday from 12 – 5 pm. This service is available from Monday of week 2 through finals week. For more information (including how to access our Slack space), visit the Writing Center website.
  • The Online Writing Suite provides email, Zoom, and telephone writing consultations for all OSU students, both graduate and undergraduate. Students can generally expect to receive feedback for written consultations by the end of the next business day.

Disability Access Services

Disability Access Services (DAS) assists students with disabilities to access their academic environment. If students have any questions about their current accommodations or if they need accommodations for the first time for a disability in the remote learning environment, they can contact DAS.

Additional Resources

Students may experience a range of life situations that impact their decisions around education and coursework. There are many resources to support students in making informed decisions for their development and success at OSU. If you are concerned about a student and would like to consult on how best to support them, visit the Office of the Dean of Students website for consultation options. Student Care also maintains the Care Folder—a living document that provides guidance on the referral process and OSU resources to support students in distress. The OSU Experience Student Resources website also provides a comprehensive list of student resources that you can filter by campus and service type.
